PLA

PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a biopolymer obtained from the processing of starch extracted from some plants. Therefore, it comes from a renewable resource and it is biodegradable, with low environmental impact.
 
Whilst printing the PLA filament it is recommended to use the printing bed heated, to avoid layers overlap.
 
Opera 3D PLA boasts exceptional filament precision, absence of smells when printing, good flexibility and the lack of filament leftovers whilst the extruder deposits material layer after layer. Moreover, it cools very quickly once extruded. Being a natural polymer, we recommend putting the spool in the original bag and closing it tightly with silica gel desiccant inside after use.
 
Bright colours, ease of printing, absence of smell and low environmental impact make PLA the first-choice material for most projects.

ABS

ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is a thermoplastic polymer derived from petroleum and available in various colours. Being a synthetic polymer from fossil hydrocarbons, we recommend using it in a ventilated environment with Opera 3D Prima top cover closed to avoid sudden cooling of the object during printing.
 
Even though Opera 3D ABS has a reduced retraction during the cooling phase, we recommend using the heated surface at the suggested temperatures and using Fix Action. Opera 3D ABS boasts exceptional filament precision and high mechanical strength. We recommend putting the spool in the original bag and closing it tightly with silica gel desiccant inside after use.
 
We suggest to use ABS only when confident with the 3D printer.

WOOD FIBER

Wood is a filament with real natural wood fibers bound together by pure PLA.
 
Opera 3D WOOD boasts exceptional filament accuracy offering very realistic aesthetic results, comparable to natural wood. It is recommended to increase the retraction parameter of a few millimetres to avoid filament leftovers on the printing bed. However, those leftovers are easily removed without affecting the quality of the printed object.

HIPS

HIPS (High Impact PolyStyrene) is a shock-resistant polystyrene and an excellent material, presenting tougher extension and breaking and greater resilience (impact resistance) due to its composition.
 
We recommend using it with Opera 3D Prima top cover closed to avoid potential cooling of the object when printing.
